THIS YEAR WE ARE RAISING MONEY FOR...

Team Jacobs "Follow Your Dream" Bursary for Algoma University

The Team Jacobs "Follow Your Dream" Bursary is an athletic financial award created for student-athletes entering Algoma University and participating in an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) varsity sport.  Establishing this award was important to the entire team, not only because three of their members are Algoma University graduates but because sport has been an integral part of each of their lives.  Since they were children, they dreamt of becoming Olympic athletes and they want to encourage others to "Follow their Dream".  The Team hopes that "the recipients of the bursary will go on to make a difference in the lives of others in their communities - to have the courage to stick to what they are passionate about and not be afraid to dream big!"

Sault Area Hospital Maternal Child Fund

The Sault Area Hospital (SAH) provides primary, secondary and select tertiary services to residents in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma; serving a catchment population of approximately 115,000. As of April 2015, with the emergence of the Capital Request Summary for the 2015/2016 year, the Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s current fundraising initiative includes various pieces of equipment needed to support the Maternity/NICU/Paediatric Unit. At this time, particular pieces have been identified as priorities for the unit, including the Infant Flow SiPAP (Synchronized Inspiratory Positive Airway Pressure) System. This critical piece of equipment provides a non-invasive form of respiratory support for infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), as well as during transport within the hospital, through nasal continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and bilevel modalities. In general, this specialized respiratory care results in better health outcomes for the neonate.

Total cost for an Infant Flow SiPAP System is $20,455 and it is our hope that funds raised from this year's tournament will help pay for a portion or all of this unit."
